one or two, one or two?

Yesterday was another fun day at the race track. Other than some reoccurring computer problems and vehicle failures, it was smooth event.

The official results are not back yet, but I picked up a second place trophy. But wait, the website says I placed first! One or Two? At the track they listed four drivers for my class, but the website shows only three. So I guess we will just stay tuned for the final official results. Either way I am happy with my times. I think I am at my limit for my car, tires, and brakes.

Nick (Metalix) finished very strong too! His class (G Stock) was much more competitive than mine. He had to compete against 10 cars, many running slick tires. Slick tires are an enormous advantage at an autocross! I was also able to ride shotgun for his 2nd run, including a re-run. This is only Nick’s second event but he is driving lines like a professional. In racing, just like gaming, he is the quickest learner I’ve ever seen.

Watch the website for final updates and photos. Speaking of photos and video, another BIG thanks to Mark for taking video and photos. And to my brother (for photos) and for coming out to the track. Always great having a rooting section!

Next and final event of the year at the airport is in just two weeks! Hooray!

!!! Update !!!I think I figured out the ranks… Yes, I got first place in my class.

The announcer at the track included Greg McCance in the STX class, however Greg races his “STX” car in the “PAX” index class. It’s official, I have my first 1st place! Hooray!

Nick’s results are back too. He finished in 12th out of 25 novice drivers, just missing out on a trophy. 12 of 25 might not sound all that impressive but keep in mind, many cars were running slick (racing) tires. Nick was on his stock OEM tires! Maybe this will help; here are some cars that Nick beat:
2000 Honda Civic
96 Acura Integra
08 Honda Civic
01 Audi TT Quattro
00 Honda S2000
72 Porsche 914
2002 Chevy camaro
00 KGB Spy 100
1972 Nissan 240Z
06 Noble M400
92 Mazda Miata
1974 Triumph Spitfire

Finally, the photos are available in Atch’s Gallery.
