The Rule of Thirds
Here is a new series of Photography and Videography tips. These are some really simple things you can do to improve the quality of photos and video.
The Rule of Thirds
This is one of my favorite tips for composing a great photograph! There are sometimes when this can work with video too. When composing your photograph, imagine the frame is divided into 9 smaller squares, like a tick, tack, toe board.
Next, place points of interest at the intersections of the lines, or along one of the lines. In the sample photo the silhouette of the woman is approximately in line with the right, vertical line. And the horizon is aligned with the top horizontal line.
It doesn’t always make sense to “center” your composition. Play around with the Rule of Thirds and I think you’ll be really surprised at your results!
