From rain to WOW!
Good Morning.
Well it’s morning here at WDW because I’m just getting back from an incredible first full day at the parks.
The day began with a walk to EPCOT from our resort. We promptly ran into Future World and picked up a Fast Pass for Test Track. (Need more info with all this “Disney” talk? Head over to All Ears Net) I wasn’t completely looking forward to the ride because I’m a wimp and Test Track does 65 MPG (67.4 MPG on my run) so yeah… It was a blast right up until the last 30 feet or so of the final steep banked turn. Yes, it was worth it. No, I doubt I’ll ever ride it again.
After that we rode Universe of Energy, Cranium Command, and Journey into Imagination with Figment. We tried to take advantage of the soft opening of the new Soarin’ ride in The Land but didn’t find any cast members taking fresh victims.
Around lunch time (I had Mexican at Cantina de San Angel) we split up and I stayed in EPCOT where it proceeded to rain and then pour “Cheshire’s” and “Pluto’s”, aka Cats and Dogs!
We then made our way over to the Magic Kingdom. The crowd level was incredibly busy, however we managed to get some great attractions checked off including Buzz Lightyear, Mickey’s Phillharmonic, It’s a Small World, and Haunted Mansion.
We had dinner reservations at Tony’s Italian restaurant and were hoping we might get one of the few tables outside. Not only did we get a table outside, it was the best possible view for the Spectromagic parade. Our thoughts were of Mom because this was her spot to hang out on the porch and watch the families enjoy themselves at the park. There is no doubt that I felt Mom there tonight. She gave us more than an awesome table. The weather broke, the rain stopped, the skies cleared and I swear it must have been 72 degrees on that porch. We raised our glasses to you Mom!
The night ended with the most amazing view of the fireworks I have ever seen in my 11 trips to Disney World! That’s all I’m going to say for now.
I’ll be posting more photos to online gallery so keep checking for updates. I’m also going to try my hand at some small videos.
It’s late so I had better get to bed. Disney day 2 begins in less than 6 hours.
