What’s New?
Well it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted anything on the old web site. I’ve been keeping busy around the house and visiting friends and family.
So what’s new?
For starters I was extremely disappointed that I had to pass on an invitation from a friend to meet him and his family at Walt Disney World for a week in February. Unfortunately working at a college makes it rather difficult to take time off near the beginning of a semester. The good news is that I will be traveling to WDW with my sister and her family at the end of March. A check of the calendar will show that we’ll be there during Easter. To answer your question, yes we are crazy! The crowds will be absolutely overwhelming. I have not been to Disney during any peak season for many years. Nevertheless, I am extraordinarily excited.
I have been interested in a GPS navigation system which could be used with a laptop for a few years. With the trip in March I think it’s really time to make the investment. I’ve found it extremely difficult to find any helpful information on the web. What is a good brand? How makes the best navigation software? Screen shots would be great! Do you have any suggestions? I’m leaning towards the Garmin 18 but I’m open to any suggestions you might have.
I also need to find a camcorder replacement since mine was stolen during the robbery last year. I’ve narrowed it down to two possible cameras. The Sony HC-1000 or the Panasonic GS-400 Both have positives and negatives. The Panasonic has a known tape transport issue which is so loud that it can be heard in the final recording. Not good! But it can record Anamorphically enhanced video. The Sony has a clumsy touch screen menu that people seem to really hate. However it has an optional 4-way microphone which can be used to author 5.1 surround sound during post production. I’m leaning toward the Sony. Imagine a Disney vacation in 5.1 surround!!
I continue to make progress in the basement. I have some pictures in the camera which I will be posting to the gallery one of these days.
Finally, I continue to work on the memorial to my Mother. It is difficult but I just keep doing a little bit at a time.
Well now that you’re sleeping from reading this post I bid you farewell.
