4…3…

With launch about a week away and no serious issues currently being tracked at the launch pad, a commitment to launching on July 1st, am I beginning to get excited that I may actually see the Space Shuttle launch in person! Will thinking and writing this news jinx the mission or my chances. Anything is possible.

As you can see I’ve added the STS-121 Launch Clock on the right side of my website. This clock is set according to NASA assuming a July 1st launch at 3:49 EDT.
At NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the STS-121 crew poses for a photo at Launch Pad 39B on the top of the fixed service structure. From left are Mission Specialists Michael Fossum and Thomas Reiter, Pilot Mark Kelly, Commander Steven Lindsey, and Mission Specialists Lisa Nowak, Stephanie Wilson and Piers Sellers. The crew members participated in a three-day series of Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test activities that included equipment familiarization, emergency egress training and a simulated launch countdown.
