Back to the races
This past Sunday was my first SCCA Autocross this year. The weather was outstanding for a change. No rain, plenty of Sun, and cool temps. There was a huge turn out of friends, which is always welcome. I think everyone had a good time. Well, except my friends wife who was ill and had to leave. Special Thanks to Jim for the photos and to Mark for taking the video.
I ended up placing 2nd in my class and will be awarded a trophy for my time.
Even more exciting was that it was my friend Nick’s first Autocross! He was nervous, and rightfully so. This was without question the most technically challenging track I have ever seen at the Airport. The course was huge made up of nothing but turns including two slaloms. In fact I ran one entire lap in first gear hitting the rev limiter just a few times. Nick did, on his first lap, what about 15 cars could not; Stay on the track! I was working the course during Nick’s run and the first 15 cars DNF. (Did Not Follow) I DNF’d on my first run. In fact, I just looked at the results and 31% of ALL cars DNF on their first run. That is unprecedented!
